Map Tool Palette

The Map Tool Palette contains tools available for all workflows. The Map Tool Palette can be displayed or hidden by clicking the arrow.

Pin tool defines a point on the map and identifies the address or latitude/longitude of the point. You can also move or delete the point.

Zoom-In creates a closer view of an area on the map. Click and draw a box around the region with the mouse pointer.

Zoom-Out creates a zoomed out view of an area on the map. Click and draw a box around the region with the mouse pointer to the area.

Pan tool allows you to pan the map.

Clear Map tool allows you to clear points on the map. A dialog box appears with a list of points, sites and layers that you can clear. Click the check box for the items you want to clear, or choose Select All as a shortcut, and click Clear. The sites are cleared from the map but are not deleted from Business Analyst Online.

Map Capture allows you to save the current view of the map in an image file.

Print allows you to print the map.

Full Screen allows you to expand your Business Analyst Online interface to take up the entire screen. This hides your Web browser interface. Click the Full Screen button again to exit full screen mode and return to normal view.

Zoom Tools and Map Types

Zoom Tool

The Zoom tool allows you to zoom in and out of a map area. Click the plus sign to zoom in and the minus sign to zoom out. You can also move the horizontal bar to zoom in and out.

When placing the pointer over the zoom tool while in the Color-Coded Maps tab, pop-ups appear to indicate the level of zoom. You can choose from Block Groups, Census Tracts, ZIP Codes, Counties, and States. You can click on any of these to zoom to the perspective map level.

Map Types

The Map Types menu bar allows you to set your map background to street view, satellite view, or topographic view.

Click Streets to see the map in street view. As you zoom in, you will see more detail such as street and place names.

Click Satellite to satellite imagery on your map.

Click Topographic to see the map in topographic detail.
